Can you find the virtual Easter Egg?

In the absence of a real Easter egg this weekend (expectations of receiving of an Easter egg over the age of 30 are pretty much nil), I’m resorting to the virtual kind. For those of you that don’t know, in the world of computers an Easter egg is an intentional hidden message or feature found in games, programs and operating systems. It could be anything from a simple printed message or image, to a page an entire videogame.

So, imagine my delight to hear that JJ Abrams has hidden an Easter egg in the new Star Trek trailer…can you spot it?

Within each international trailer to Star Trek Into Darkness, JJ Abrams production company Bad Robot has hidden a URL link. The URL address above appears for less than half a second at 1:36 and too unclear to read for my human eyes unfortunately – still it was still fun hunting it out before resorting to googling the answer! Interestingly Alice Eve is wearing very little in the scene that features the hidden URL. If you were to click on the link it would take you to the UK and Australian poster for the film.

If anyone else has any fun Easter eggs in films, computer programs or otherwise please do leave a comment. I know Easter eggs in games have been around for a long time (particularly cheatcodes). For instance, in Tomb Raider 2 you can turn Lara into a giant dragon*. I’d be interested to know if there are any Easter eggs in other movie trailers or music albums though.

Wishing you all a great Easter.

* If you really want to know – by going to level 3, turning around 5 times, shooting 8 times with the shotgun, jumping up 3 times, minimising the Tomb Raider 2 Window, ‘diving by with insert 4 times, type in ALT+TAB+Scary and finally running into a wall.
